Steve Jobs Biography Questions
- I own an ipod, it helped me bring what music I liked anywhere. It also introduced me to apps. The most useful thing about my ipod was that it allowed me to look things up at school and uses apps for class once we had wi-fi in my high school.
- Everything was either right or wrong for Jobs. He wanted everything to be perfect. It worked well with his leadership because those who were dedicated to his company and liked him, wanted to do the best work they could. I think it can be worth it to live to such high standards but it is unrealistic for everyone and certain situations. It can make people work hard, but such stress won't make a pleasant work environment.
- Open and customizable systems may be more useful in the future as people continue to grow used to computers and how to work with technology. Then consumers can modify the systems as they need. I also think that good products can come from more open environments because using information from outside the company can make your products better.
- i) Quote one says that he believes that those who don't think/act by social norms are the ones who have what it takes to change things because they don't believe in sticking to what is common. It is probably how he felt in his life.
ii) The second quote seems to say that he was willing to work for someone else at first, but after watching his biography, I'm not sure that he would have been happy not leading his own projects.
5. I don't view Apple as representative of counterculture. All of their products have become the "cool" thing to own and more mainstream. It's almost like they've become part of techno-corporate.
